CLC connection issues

Post by Dark Force »

Hello everyone, its Trueno. I just noticed that latly on CLC i cant hold connection for more then 10 seconds (as many of you have noticed) without timming out. I really dont understand this, because up until a week ago i never had a problem with my connection and i very rarely timed out. It seems on my laptop with a wireless connection i never timmed out, now with my new pc and a ethernet cable i timout like mad.

I am really scratching my head on this one and i would aprieciate it if someone could help. Best regards, Trueno :(

To determine if its CLC server.
Download the attached zip.
Run the ping Master file
Watch a few mins
Close it
Run the ping CLC file
Watch a few mins
Close it

Examine the TIME=xxx ms coloumn both times
Eg:
ping.JPG
Does the CLC server ping test drop out alot. Or does the master server ping test drop out alot. Or does both?

If you notice frequent drop outs (Request timed out) try the same tests on another PC, using the same LAN cables/connections. Your new PC might have network issues, it might be a bad integrated network card. But do some tests first before buying another network card. Try another LAN cable. Move your PC closer to router if you have to test another cable. It's better than getting a new PC.

Looks completly fine dont it. After i seen this i started to think what i did differnt about 2 weeks ago. It just turns out that im on a new PC. One that i bought in the store. So if im not laging at all, doesent it seem that my connection is being limited somwere else. I finnally opened my Norton security system on my new pc (this came with as free software), and to my shock i see that it was limiting LFS's access to the internet.

I never once thought that a firewall would limit an outbound connection, so i simply turned the firewall off, went back in CLC and did not timeout for the rest of the day. So, if your having CLC connection issues, it is very possible that your firewall is limiting your outbound connection, i didnt want to believe this myself but so far i havent had ANY problems with my connection after i switched off the firewall. :D

Thanks for providing the server ip JJ, i owe you one.
