Hello,
So i ordered 2x2gb OCZ 800mhz RAM. It has arrived, and i have it here with me.. The problem is that I'm on Windows Vista 32bit (service pack 1). If i put both the sticks in, it will boot but before it reaches Windows Vista, it runs but with a black screen (unable to get to the desktop). If i take 1 stick out, it boots and runs perfectly, all normal.
So my question is: I thought Windows Vista does support upto 3gb+ RAM but here, it seems no worky? Is it because I'm only on service pack one?..
Thanks in advance
4gb ram

Re: 4gb ram
Hmm... Could it be the mobo that doesn't support it? Even though it goes past the BIOS, etc.
Well VISTA is pissing me off, so I am going to burn a disc of the Windows 7 BETA (64bit!) which should support it. Have any of you guys tried it?

Re: 4gb ram
well, i think every mobo supports 800mhz.. if it was 1066mhz, that could be the reason, but.. u dont have the possibility to try a 64bit version eh?

Nope, I am downloading Windows 7 now, but it IS the motherboard which is wrong (checked out the manual) this motherboard only supports 2gb of RAM. Which made me lol.. Will have to find another motherboard which supports SLI Fast RAM and quad-core processors then, eh?

Re: 4gb ram
32Bit operating systems support UP TO 3.5Gb of ram.
Anything over shouldn't cause a crash though, does it work with just one of the sticks in?

Re: 4gb ram
vista basic 64bit supports up to 8gb of ram, i think, one of the lower vistas supports 8gb with 64bit, the better vistas of course can go higher, 32bit takes stuff all
