Simplicity is in this case something quite subjective, but thanks for the tip
Uh, yeh sorry. I was just saying that it's quicker/easier to do a colour adjust to the original than adding a semi transparent layer. This way you don't loose any of the texture you want to see. (see attach)
Ahhhh, unless you wanted that "chequer-board" surface as well. Heh, nvm.

I tryed finding out how to adjust the colour using paint.net (dont have PS no more), but i cant find how to do it, so i just added a transparent layer.

Adjustments menu >> Levels...
Tick the red, green, blue, boxes to disable the colour adjustments and pull hte sliders up and down to see the effect.
