missing taskbar

im missing my taskbar in windows 7, the windows button is still there, but everything else is gone lol. Anyone got any ideas? i tried the setting in control panel but cant get it back.

You could try a few things to see where the problem lies.

- Try starting the taskbar manually. Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC at the same time.
First check if there's any processes running (processes tab, tick Show processes from all users). Sort by name and kill any explorer.exe processes running. Then go to File > New Task (Run..) > explorer.exe
- If that doesn't work, try booting into Windows in safe mode (press F8 before you get to the Windows loading screen) and see if the taskbar pops up?

Have you installed Daemon Tools recently?
Are the icons on your desktop also missing?

With Vista, a similar problem occurred when it detected your licence had expired/been identified as pirated. It would also start up an Internet Explorer window showing you how to licence Windows. Did you get any messages telling you this recently?

Heh, that's ok. I do this for a living.

Not sure if it will be permanently fixed, though. Might recur at the next reboot.
