CLC Gumball 1000 #3 (Saturday 23rd October) Feedback

Post by beefyman666 »

So, this turned out to be quite good in the end. I had my doubts about it but was surprised with the outcome.

Shame that a lot of people didn't turn up, but those that did it was good to see you all on and to see the server stay busy for a while.

Before I left the server, only 3 people had finished and 3 were still going for it. So that's upto 6 out of the 28 that signed up that finished. Was it the track that made people not want to do it?

Finished:
[OPC] Bo7oD! (bo7od-) - XRG
~~\o/~~ (beefyman66) - XFG
[OPC] Coop! (alin_coop) - UF1
[CLC] passme (proteus) - LX4
[OPC] Smacky! (Smacky) - XFG
~SW~Brolly (mikkichisa) - FZ5

Entered but didn't finish:
Børnar NOR (neux)
[CLC]135i (mjh93sa)
Marius NOR (kjartan)
(The Stig) ((The Stig))
Speedo (baltuxx)
[OPC] DK! (DarkKostas)
skstibi (skstibi)
Jonas NOR (JonasT)
[OPC] DS! (DjSt3rios)
Goc/Wiśnia (wisnia1994)
Carlos NOR (Denonforce14)
[OPC] Eagle? (Eaglezor)
[OPC] CanChron! (Bongwater420)
(In the order on the stats, not who got the furthest)

Entered but didn't turn up
SEAN-NZ (SEAN-NZ)
PACECAR™SCR34MA (SyNt3K)
Jalliz (Jalliz NOR)
Squeak (MattsterGT)
SMOKEY THE BANDIT (THE WIZARD DK)
4556 (runeman)
Silver (Silverracer)
Leander G27 (hopenjr)
~Sw~ExDriv3r (eX-Driv3r)

The prizes will be given out this evening, if you are not online you will recieve them when you are next on.

Awards
First Person each group to finish:
UF1 - [OPC] Coop! (alin_coop) - UF1 (€5k)
Standard - [OPC] Bo7oD! (bo7od-) - XRG (€5k)
Turbo - [CLC] passme (proteus) - LX4 (€5k)
Race - ~SW~Brolly (mikkichisa) - FZ5 (€5k)

Best Gumball Skin:
[OPC] Smacky! (Smacky) (€5k)

Most Laps:
~~\o/~~ (beefyman66) - XFG (260 laps) (€5k)

Thanks to Matt for sorting out the CLiS update for the event, seemed to work well and will be good for future events.

Good
~~The amount of people in the server. Good 20-30 for the majority of the event, would be good to see that more often.
~~Helpful people like Chesta, Jamie, Pete, Rikki and Roadi who stayed on for most of the event to help clear paths and make things a little easier.
~~Finishing in under 12 hours without pitlaning or going out of bounds was sweet. :)
~~Hats off to Coop for doing it in just over 12 hours, in an internet cafe!

Bad
~~The select few that decided to go the opposite direction (it wasn't 'illegal' to do I know) knowing it would mess people up. Especially a certain someone who did it just because he couldn't get very far himself.
~~The number of people having to start from 200 again, unfortunate but most managed to get through the danger zone in the end.
~~Drunks.

Let us know what you thought was good and bad about the event. Feedback is what will make the future events better for everybody.

Well done to you Beefy for your big work on this event, and of course your distance accomplished.

Well done to the players that made it to the end, to the ones that helped a lot... Well done Coop if actually you made it in a cafe

Don't feel bad about the bad points... There will always be some in events like that ! ;)

And I feel like I missed something ... I spend less time in CLC these days, due to lack of motivation, lack of time and personnal problems.

Guess I'll be able to make it sometime !

Hey guys,

Well done to the few who actully for once did finish the event this might aswell include pass me :) The few things which didn't go well with me personally was these,

The :censored: :censored: UF1000 drivers who went wrong way.
The LFD guys who unfortually ruined part of the event for me in particular and others in a different way.
Also the HUGE pileups which happend.

--- Goodpoints ---

- The Servers and Insim held up surprisinly well ;)
- Most people finished!
- Not many crashes actully happend.

Ok, even I know many of the bad things naturally happen but can be avoided if people only knew that a event was going on, I count it down to lack of communication within the unregistered groups of people who didn't take part in the Gumball Event on CLC.

Apart from that it went well.

Thanks for a great event,

Thanks for the apreciation and the support! Couldn;t have done it withought it.

You guys have done a fantastic job preparing the event and the system! Couldn;t be any better! And as you see, the bad parts are all related to people so unfortunately there is not much you can do. Either if it's lack of motivation for some to finish, bad luck, or just some people that get their charlies off by trying to mess the fun for everyone else.

In my opinion, you guys couldn;t have done a better job! Thanks a lot to those not in the event that helped us have a safe journey and keep on trucking! I think they should win a reward also. Or at least posted on a hall of fame!

Also I think maybe you should place there everyone that attended the event there but unfortunately did not finish, at least for their effort and sportyness :D

Added passme and Smacky, thanks Coop.

As for the others who didn't finish, I don't fancy watching the replay to see did and who didn't. Anyway, I think Matt has some stats from the whole 15 hours, so that will make things easier to see who actually turned up and who didn't.

All in all I think that it went rather smoothly, but we have taken away a few ideas to improve on for next time, and to carry forward into other events.

It's always difficult when people decide to drive in the opposite direction to the gumballers, more so on such a tight track. But, unless they are breaking the rules or specifically seen to be interfering then our hands are tied. However, I would have expected a number of people to have shown a little more community spirit. All I shall say is that they know who they are... and that I for one was not impressed with the attitude shown.

By contrast a number of others were doing all that they could to assist the participants, towing and generally ensuring that they did not impede progress. Again, they know how they are... and I for one was impressed and glad to see such unselfish behaviour.

The unfortunate no-shows from some people (without posting when they knew they couldn't make it) is disappointing. We will have to review the sign up procedures to ensure that slots are available in the first instance to those who will use them. In a couple of cases we have had sign ups from people who have not been in the server in months and who then unsurprisingly did not show up!

It started too early in the day and my ISP decided to do "updates" shortly after 200km.

Other than that it was fun.
