Racing league

Hi.

I know the forum is a bit inactive, but I am posting this to see if there will be some reactions anyway.

For a long time, dsm and I have been thinking about creating a racing league and now dsm has started making a forum and we are seriousely considering to start this.
So the question: would you want to enter a racing league? Just to have fun with everyone again:)

It is not sure when we will start this, but first we want to see if there are enough people interested in a league.
With this league we hope to get people back to lfs and have the fun times like we had before.

As I am not sure myself, I voted for "not sure what cars to race".

Voted also "Not sure what car to race" because, I'll take part in whatever category. I'll manage the forum/organisation part.

I'd join a league. For me personally I like racing the slower cars as the racing is usually closer. The best races I've had have been in the UF1, hence me driving the car a lot. Slow and boring it might be, but with a full grid its fantastic.

To keep things fresh though I would recommend a different car/track combo each race. It stops people getting bored of driving the same thing over again and also gives you the chance to put some laps down on combos you've probably never tried.

The last race team I was part of held a different combo each week whihc was open to the public aswell as the team and it would usually fill up regardless if people didn't like that particular combo. The winner of each race then picked the car and track for the next weeks race so there was never a set schedule.

If you can pull this off and get enough numbers for each race, it might 'relight my fire' for LFS. For me its been dead for some time and I'd like to get into it again, only providing the racing is worth turning up for.

Good luck guys and keep us posted on your progress.

PS. When you've got a decent 'game plan' it would probably worth posting about it on LFS Forum. Although there's mostly immature kids flooding the place with spam, you'd get a better response over there.

I'd be interested, I think it would be nice to have a range of different cars to add more variance to each race (:

Nice to see there are interested folks around!

And yes, the plan is to combine different tracks and different cars every race, so no worries about that.

And I have not posted this on LFS forums because I want this league to attract good people, and not like you said, a bunch of raging kids. We have had too much experience with that nonsense. We decided to post this here and on 1 other forum because we know you guys and we know you would not ruin the league.
If this is such a succes that in the future we can expand the league, but I doubt this will happen, then maybe we can post something on LFS forums.

For now, we just want to have fun with the people we know and trust.

Time for an update:)

So, we are pretty much ready to go. There are just a few things that need to be discussed but besides that, we only need a server. I mailed franky about that, hoping he could help out as at the moment we cannot afford a server, but I haven't gotten an answer in weeks, so I don't know what will happen with that.

We hope we can start soon!

Been a while. Update time.

So, the forum is done. Only thing needed is the server. Still unsure how we will arrange this, as I never got a response from Franky. Will need to look at payment options when I finally get the money for my internship.
Then when the server is up, can all come to the forum and we can vote on a few ideas.

So basically, 50% done. Server is a big part, so that will be another 40%, then a couple things to vote on the forum and we are ready to go:)

Are you all still interested? Please respond if you are.

I'm still up for this. I need something to get me back into LFS.

Hopefully you get some hosting sorted for the forums.

Keep us posted.

The time has finally come.
Well, not entirely how it was supposed to be. DSM is too busy, so I will try to do this by myself. This should not be a problem if everyone keeps to the rules.

Please take a look:

I do believe you need to register first, or you will see only 1 topic.
