Back up your original sounds, (select all >> send to.. zipped folder), then you can just paste them back. You do not have to rename PVL sounds to the default name, so you shouldn't loose your originals in the first place.
I find you have to re-assign every new sound you want to use to each player you have in LFS in each car. So I rename new sounds to XXX_default.eng - so backups of my originals is the best option for me.
(I split this topic because these .eng threads can go on forever)
