Reminder that Horn 5 is Reservered for the police siren for use by POLICE and CADETS only in CLC servers. But you must still download it to hear the Police Cars using the horn.

Horn 3 - Music
Music loops are best used on the not commonly used Horn 3 as most people use this for music loops already.

Ctrl+H to change horns after you download the .wav file into the LFS/data/sounds/ folder. Other people cannot hear you horn you have downloaded unless they have also downlaoded it to their sounds folder. You must download other horns if you want to hear them locally.

This thread: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php? ... post329961

Contains this file: http://www.lfsforum.net/attachment.php? ... 1170603422

Its in .RAR compressed format.

If you are unable to open it because you don'thave WinRar..... Grab the files from here: http://files.filefront.com/EmergencySer ... einfo.html
Just save it anywhere you can find it again. In the LFS folder is ok.

Run this program...(it has a monkey face)
After it starts, iit sits in the task Tray area (near the clock, bottom right)

To use the emergency horn system, When you press Left Alt Key the horn will sound and stay on permanently, the indicators and fog lights at the front of the car will flash as well in sync.
To stop the horns, hold left Shift key for about 1/2 second.

For it to work correctly, you need to have configured in LFS, the default keys for horns and lights....
Key G = Lights
Key B = Horns

Remember Left Alt and Left Shift turns the mod on and off.

I just got it working, but now i cant alt tab to change windows, and also, when i exit out into the main menu, it wont let me click the exit button, and when i try to type /exit (in the main menu), i cant type "/exit", because it will every half second add in i think "bg90" or a variation of those numbers and letters. I noticed that b and g and 9 and 0 are all used for blinkers, lights, and horns. But still....

How do i get around this?

EDIT: Nvm i just tried using the right alt key instead, so that gets me out of the window without closing it. But its still annoying not being able to type while the siren is on, without it being interfeared by bg90bg90 over and over.

Also, whats the pack i can download so instead of hearing the default horn 5, i can hear a police siren instead?

i use LFSstrobe for lights and horn. u can still type while its on and the only thing i dont like is it uses the Num lock key to turn it on and off

--README--

Step 1. Download the file to your lfs directory
Step 2. Extract the folder someone inside your lfs directory
Step 3. Now you should have everything unzipped, double click on LfsStrobe.exe
Step 4. At the bottom of the application, there is a "Load" and a "Save" button, click "Load"
Step 5. find STROBE.txt, and press open
Step 6. DO NOT PRESS SAVE, this is only when you make your own
Step 7. Start up LFS
Step 8. Press your Num Lock key to start / stop the lights

Thanks ABK, I knew someone would advertise LFS Strobe.

Yes Sketchy, the emergency service addon is limited. You're correct that you can only use Right Shift/Alt and you have to turn it off to use chat and remember to turn it off when you want to do something in Windows. Sorry I forgot to mention those. But I see you worked it out for yourself. I've grown used to its limits. I even stopped using Left Alt/Shift on my work PC, and I don't even use LFS on it.

I would have told you to use Strobe, but I dont know off the top of my head how to use it. I used it once, it was a bit trickier than Emergency Service to set up and it would always make my controls change to Automatic Transmission when I looked back behhind in my views.

I remember when I used to use a match and changed PageDown to be the horn and shoved the match in to hold the key down.

Come to think of it, your steering wheel probably has a profiler program and you can set up macros to make your horns/lights stay stuck down.

So you've got 4 choices now:
+ A matchstick / piece of cardboard
+ Emergency Service
+ LFS strobe
+ Programmable profiler program for your controller device. If you have one.

haha the match stick sounds ghetto but it might work.

Profiler i have, but im not good enough with computers to try that

and i dont want to try LFS strobe if thats gonna make me have to use automatic transmission

No, its not quite like that for LFS stobe, you might be fine.

The thing I found is that if you happen use the "Shift key" during chases with the strobe on, LFS thinks your pressing Shift-G which changes the transmision type. (You see, G is the lights and its send G G G G G to LFS) So pressing Shift means Shift+G is being used

Thats affects me cause I use "Shift"-V alot when I play. If you dont use shift key much when you play you probably wont have any problems. Just setting up is tricky, you need to use a file that tells it what oder to flash the lights, but not not overly difficult.

You might even be able to configure LFS strobe to not use G for lights, perhapse some other key can be used for lights. I might have a look. I'd rather use Strobe myself. Although you can't set it up to auto-load the config file, or can you?

It seems you might need microsoft .NET framework 2.0 running to use strobe. You can get that from MicroSoft.com or do a google search for it.

edit: I just had another look at LfsStrobe and you can tell it to use any key for the Lights. So I'll be using this from now on I think. I just gotta figure out a way to make it auto-load the light sequence file. You have to manually click Load in LfsStrobe each time you open it. I'm waaaay too lazy to do that.
