Re: Serial-ATA drivers
Either they're already installed (your signature mentions a SATA drive), or you could find them on the cd that came with your motherboard.
Found this link, but I'm not sure if that includes SATA drivers:

Re: Serial-ATA drivers
You shouldn't need S-ATA drivers..

Re: Serial-ATA drivers
I just bought a SATA drive. Plugged it into mother board and the BIOS (press delete on PC start screen) detected it. I then used Windows install disk and installed Windows to the SATA drive. Works like any IDE drive if your motherboard has SATA plugs in it. I disconnected the other IDE drives so there wasnt a conflict.
If you bought all that stuff in your signature then your SATA drive will work without 'drivers' You just need a Windows disk and make sure you have properly set your PICKS on the SATA drive to MASTER (Master PICK should be already set on the SATA drive out of the box) and you're good to start up.

Re: Serial-ATA drivers
If you are using 1 S-ATA drive and the rest IDE the motherboard selects S-ATA as main drive by default, Industry standard.

i did get all that stuff in my sig, i dont understand the picks stuff, i only have the one S-ATA hard drive and no other ide hard drives, as there is only one IDE plug on the motherboard

Re: Serial-ATA drivers
BIOS' (The basic program on the motherboard that starts and controls your system) has a 'boot sequence'. It decides what the BIOS checks first for the operating system.SEAN-NZ wrote:i did get all that stuff in my sig, i dont understand the picks stuff, i only have the one S-ATA hard drive and no other ide hard drives, as there is only one IDE plug on the motherboard
It used to be, In the days of IDE, When you got 2 Hard-Drives to a ribbon, Both going into 1 point, That it was decided by the physical jumper on the back of the hard-drive. Now, With S-ATA the computer auto detects the order they are in (Since you only get 1 hard-drive per port and they are ordered.)
If you mix IDE and S-ATA type drives, The S-ATA will be chosen as primary boot location by default. However that's not the case, So it doesn't matter.
Just plug it in and it will work since it's the only drive

Re: Serial-ATA drivers
i got the fan , but i cant install windows , it comes up with a darkish blue screen and says something, but i dont know wat it is now
before i start setup it has a message at the bottem of the screen saying:
No Ide Master H.D.D Detected
Press F1 To Resume
so i press F1, and then start the setup
then it has the setup screen with Windows Setup at the top, and eventually it says Setup is Starting Windows
and after about 10 seconds, it says
Stop:c000021 Unknown Hard Erro
\SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll
does anyone know wat is wrong?

Re: Serial-ATA drivers
I just googled the problem first paged turned up this.
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/wi ... 1007400173
3rd last solution/ post looked best to me and also was what I was thinking to try.
"The problem is the ntdll.dll file in your installation source location. copy your whole cd to your hard drive. and put in a folder called winxp. download the ntdll.dll from the web. the file has to be 658kb. put it in c:\winxp\I386 and c:\winxp\I386\system32 and try again. Good Luck "
was his answer and I am guess that would be your best bet to try, although the page had several responses you can try.

Well I say ChrisP steals Wentz22 spelling skills.
ChrisP says Wentz22 steels signatures.
